RABI was founded in 2023 when Brian O'Keefe reached an age where the physical demands of amateur baseball in Rochester Baseball League's AA division (25+ years old) started to become too much and he stumbled across the Alternative Baseball Organization league online. After inquiring about the local chapter and finding it had become defunct during COVID-19, he agreed to restart the local chapter. Brian, autistic himself, had played baseball most of his life up to the varsity high school level and coached both house and travel youth teams between T-Ball and teenage levels and felt he was well qualified to do the same with special needs teens and adults.

Founder and President
Brian is the founder of RABI and currently has an extensive role in all operations. Brian grew up most of his life knowing he was different but not knowing exactly why until he was diagnosed as autistic in his early 40s. Brian was a 3 sport varsity athlete in high school, including baseball, and coached his two children in baseball throughout their youth. He also serves as the head coach of the current RABI team.

Player Parent Liaison
Rich Short joined the RABI board in January of 2024. His daughter played with the team and loved it in 2023. Rich fell in love with the concept and wanted to help out.
Rich has lived in Ogden since 2000, currently with his wife and adult son. He has worked in banking and credit for 36 years. He has working at the same credit union for 21 years overseeing the lending and call center operations. He also served a few years on his church’s finance council.
